Is it just me or does today feel like Monday?
Funny how sometimes the days feel switched... guess it depends on what you have going on that day and how much sleep you got.
This past weekend at the Berkshire Dream Center was amazing. To read all that happened click here to be routed to the webpage.
On Saturday during Adopt A Block in North Adams, we met a lot of people who just needed someone to show them that they care. If you go out to people and are there for them, it is amazing what transpires. No agenda, except loving them. God hit me with something while I was out on the streets talking with people...and I want to share it with you. It was, "What are you doing to reach people who will not be in church on Sunday?" What are we (the church) really called to do? As followers of Christ, is our main goal just to get people to a certain building on Sunday or is it something more then that? Is it to be the hands and feet of Christ, active every day of the week and going into the bad neighborhoods and invading them with the love of Christ? Now hang in there with me because I am not saying we shouldn't bring them to church on Sunday because I believe fully that we should. My question to you is, where does it start? How do you reach those who are in desperate need for someone to reach out to them? Is it sitting in planning committees and planning a one day event? Or is it being consistent and paying the price day after day, week after week to build relationships and to go out into their streets and never give up?
Again, what God hit me with so profoundly this past weekend to share with you is, "What are you doing to reach people who will not be in church on Sunday?"
Love the "no agenda, just loving them!" That is right on! People know when you are putting them on. They know if you are genuine or a fake. Let's truly love people where they are at and not force them to do a thing. Just love them and lead them by living a life of service and loving them unconditionally, no strings attached. Keep up the great work in the Berkshires! We love you and believe in you and in this mission so much...all the way here from Orange County, NY.
